Minutes:

Councillor Belsey proposed, and Councillor Morris seconded that Councillor Maxted be appointed as Chair for this meeting.

 

RESOLVED:  That Councillor Maxted was appointed Chair for the meeting.

The Chair of the Licensing Sub Committee welcomed all parties to the hearing and detailed the procedure for the hearing. Those attending introduced themselves.

 

The Specialist Advisor for Licensing, Jade Marshall, presented the report to the Sub-Committee, summarised the details and answered questions.

 

The applicant’s legal representative, Mr Jeremy Bark, addressed the Sub Committee and responded to questions.

 

Mr Mark Favell, Tescos Store Manager and Ms Hardish Purewal, Tescos UK Licensing Manager, also addressed the Sub Committee and responded to questions.

 

The representers, PC Daren Spalding and Phil Joseph from Sussex Police, addressed the Sub Committee and responded to questions.

 

Mr Adam Godden, representer, also addressed the Sub Committee and responded to questions.

 

Mr Bark summed up.

Following all the evidence presented, the Sub-Committee retired to consider and determine the application.  Michele Wilkinson, Housing and Regulatory Lawyer was in attendance to assist with any legal queries.  The Lawyer confirmed the decision would be sent to the parties within five working days of the date of the hearing.

 

RESOLVED:  To grant the premises licence as was applied for with the addition of the conditions offered in additional document supplied to the Council on 31 October 2022 and agreed with Police prior to the hearing, as set out in the Decision Notice.  (Minutes Appendix 1).
