To consider proposals submitted by the ‘ Your Eastbourne BID Steering Group’ for the establishment of a BID in the town centre. The council is required to approve the proposals, authorise the council’s returning officer to conduct a ballot of business ratepayers in the defined area and if the ballot gives approval set up he necessary arrangements for collecting the levy. The proposal is for a levy of 1.5% on each business in the defined area with an annual rateable value of £6,000 or more. This is expected to raise £348,000 a year.
