The report will explain why officers recommend that the best option to manage the long term management risks posed by erosion at Telscombe Cliffs is that Lewes District Council enters into a MoU with the Environment Agency. This will enable the EA to utilise their considerable resources and expertise to take the lead role in managing the risks posed along this stretch of coast.
(Key decision):
(1) To authorise the Chief Executive to agree to enter into Memorandum of Understanding.
(2) To authorise the Council to work in partnership with the Environment Agency to explore the options viable to manage the risks posed by the undefended cliffs at The Esplanade, Telscombe Cliffs.
