Notification of apologies for absence.

Minutes:

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Diplock, Freebody, Maxted and Whippy.

Honorary Alderman - John Joseph Ungar

Motion by Councillor Diplock:

 

“That the Council exercises its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972 and confer the title of Honorary Alderman upon John Joseph Ungar, who has in the opinion of the Council rendered eminent service as a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council from 7 May 1991 to 27 March 1998 and from 9 May 2011 until his retirement on 7 May 2019.”

 

Note:  By virtue of Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972, to be effective this motion must be passed by not less than two-thirds of the Members voting thereon.

 

 

Minutes:

The following motion was proposed by Councillor Shuttleworth and seconded by Councillor Belsey:

 

“That the Council exercises its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972 and confer the title of Honorary Alderman upon John Joseph Ungar, who has in the opinion of the Council rendered eminent service as a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council from 7 May 1991 to 27 March 1998 and from 9 May 2011 until his retirement on 7 May 2019.”

 

Councillor Babarinde also spoke in support of the motion.

 

Resolved: (Unanimously) That the motion be approved.

Honorary Alderman - Sandie Howlett

Motion by Councillor Belsey:

 

“That the Council exercises its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972 and confer the title of Honorary Alderman upon Sandie Howlett, who has in the opinion of the Council rendered eminent service as a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council from 7 May 2002 until her retirement on 11 May 2015.”

 

Note:  By virtue of Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972, to be effective this motion must be passed by not less than two-thirds of the Members voting thereon.

Minutes:

The following motion was proposed by Councillor Belsey and seconded by Councillor Tutt:

 

 “That the Council exercises its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act, 1972 and confer the title of Honorary Alderman upon Sandie Howlett, who has in the opinion of the Council rendered eminent service as a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council from 7 May 2002 until her retirement on 11 May 2015.”

 

Councillor Bannister also spoke in support of the motion.

 

Resolved: (Unanimously) That the motion be approved.
