To confirm and sign the minutes of the previous meeting held on 17 January 2024 (attached herewith).

The minutes of the meeting held on the 17 January 2024 were submitted and approved, and the Chair was authorised to sign them as an accurate record.

An apology for absence was received from Councillor James Meek. It was declared that Councillor Charlotte Keenan would be acting as Substitute for Councillor Meek the duration of the meeting.

Disclosure by councillors of personal interests in matters on the agenda, the nature of any interest and whether the councillor regards the interest as prejudicial under the terms of the Code of Conduct.

There were none.

Items not on the agenda which the Chair of the meeting is of the opinion should be considered as a matter of urgency by reason of special circumstances as defined in Section 100B(4)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972.

Councillor James MacCleary spoke in his capacity as the Lewes District Ward Councillor.

Resolved:

That outline planning application LW/23/0757 with all matters reserved except access; removal of all existing structures, relocation of vehicle entrances and construction of 33 self-contained flats with associated parking and cycle parking be approved, subject to a S106 Agreement, the conditions set out in the report and supplementary report and an additional condition in respect of a further traffic and transport assessment.

The Committee added two informatives in respect of vibration and sound, and the need to bring the Applicant’s attention to the height of the development near the housing on the opposite side of the road.

Sarah Sheath (Agent), Mathew Barber (Occupier of premises) and Ben Ellis (Applicant) spoke for the proposal.

Resolved:

That planning application LW/23/0645 for proposed conversion and extension of existing building used as offices and 2 residential flats to provide 9 residential flats be approved, subject to the conditions set out in the report.
