The destruction of this piece of land would see wildlife habitats lost for deer, bats, rabbits, hares, amphibians and a great variety of nesting birds including owls and woodpeckers.
We have concerns that the current owners have already started to drive out any wildlife that may cause conflict with their plans. The owners son, works for Glendale. Glendale have a relationship with Lewes and Eastbourne council under the management of woodlands and land. We would like this to be considered when the decisions are made in this case and there is no conflict of interest.
There is also a large pile of asbestos on this land which we have previously raised as a concern to the owners and the council, requesting it is removed by approved council contractors.

Lewes District Local Plan Part 2: Site

Policies" by Mike Fox BA (Hons), Dip TP, MRTPI
an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State
Date: 20 December 2019 The council changed their policies and as
such the following apply:
DM24: Protection of Biodiversity and
Geodiversity:
Development resulting in the loss or deterioration of
irreplaceable habitats (such as ancient woodland or
veteran trees) will be refused, unless there are wholly
exceptional circumstances and a suitable compensation
strategy exists.
Development that would be likely to adversely affect a
Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), National
Nature Reserve (NNR), or a Marine Conservation Zone
(MCZ), either individually or in combination with other
developments, will only be permitted where the benefits
of the development, in the location proposed
clearly outweigh the damage to the nationally
recognised special interest of the designated site and
any adverse impacts on the wider network of the SSSIs.
