Lewes District Council - CIL Management Board

Description

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a planning based charge, introduced by the Planning Act 2008 as a tool for local authorities to help deliver infrastructure to support development in their area. It can be used to help pay for a wide range of infrastructure required to support new development. A proportion of the CIL income is passed directly to the Local Parish or Town Council.

Infrastructure providers can bid for CIL funding. The bids are assessed by the CIL Management Board and the Executive Board, formed of officers and councillors. The CIL Boards then make their recommendations on the preferred proposals.
