Issue details

Public place protection orders.

The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 removed a number of pre-existing powers that were used to tackle ASB. These were replaced with a new toolkit that was designed to be more streamlined and victim focused.

Designated Public Place Orders (DPPOs) and Dog Control Orders (DCOs) were included within the redesign. DPPOs are used to tackle street drinking related ASB and DCOs are used to prevent or require certain activity (e.g. dogs to be kept on leads at all times whilst in a park).

Where these orders have been valid since 2014 the Council will need to replaces these with Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) by October 2017 to ensure a continued response to alcohol and dog related anti-social behaviour.
