The purpose of the body is inline with the Armed Forces Covenant (www.armedforcescovenant.gov.uk<http://www.armedforcescovenant.gov.uk).
All 407 local authorities in mainland Great Britain have pledged to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant. It represents a promise by the nation that those who have served, and their families are treated fairly.
Meetings are twice a year and classed as Civil Military Partnership Boards which utilise partners (RBL, SSAFA, Army, Navy and Royal Airforce Commanders, 11th Infantry Brigade, other council employees etc). They focus on the needs of serving and ex Armed Forces personnel, and their families so they are not disadvantaged within the community due to their service.
